Jade Butterfly Ginkgo
Habit
One of my favorites among
the semi dwarf forms. It has a sturdy nicely balanced habit with numerous short
limbs. The overall look is that of a dense small tree for places where a full
sized form would become unmanageable.
Foliage
The color is
definitely the darkest jade green selection available, which when contarasted
with the light pastel green new growth makes quite an impact. In autumn it has
the classic rich yellow to yellow-orange fall colors ginkgo's are known for but
colors develop considerably later than most other forms. The typical 2-3 inches
long fan shaped leaves are more prominently split than most, prompting the name
'Butterfly'.
Fruit
Since it often takes twenty years or more to produce fruit the plants
have not yet proven to be fruitless.

Note
A
living fossil with proven durability. Grows well in extreme heat, varied pH and
salt conditions, city environments and transplants easily with no known pest
problems.
