A fast growing
tree with very symmetrical horizontal branching, medium sized pyramidal outline
especially when young. As a group alders are a hardy group of plants with little
disease or insect problems and are particularly tolerant of wet conditions even
thriving in short term standing water. They are easily transplanted establishing
themselves quickly and will grow in a wide range of soils.
Unusual for this genus with newly
emerging leaves very delicately incised maturing to a finely cut leaf edge.
Makes for a very refined look.
